OUR COMMITMENTS FOR 2026

We are committed to:

  • Dedicating 75% of Le Français’s sailing time to charities, schools and non-profit organisations, making the sea a place of inclusion, learning and shared experience.

  • Enabling more than 2,000 people each year to come aboard and enjoy a meaningful collective, educational and human experience through France’s living maritime heritage.

We are committed to:

  • Training the next generation of seafarers by supporting their professional qualifications and passing on the skills of traditional sailing. Since 2018, many sailors have been trained in traditional sailing aboard Le Français.

  • Regularly welcoming trainees from maritime schools, helping to support career guidance, professional training and entry into the maritime industry.

  • Turning technical maintenance periods into educational opportunities, where knowledge is shared, the ship is better understood, and traditional maritime skills are passed on.

We are committed to:

  • Prioritising sailing, with more than 50% of our journeys made under sail, to reduce our carbon footprint and promote low-impact navigation.

  • Carrying out an annual carbon footprint assessment to measure and continuously improve the environmental impact of our activities.

  • Sorting and reducing waste on board to minimise our environmental impact and help preserve the sea as a shared resource.

  • Designing and maintaining an environmentally responsible website, optimised to reduce energy consumption and encourage sustainable digital practices.

Grand Voilier École gives young people from all backgrounds the opportunity to sail aboard a traditional tall ship. On board Le Français, they discover teamwork, shared responsibility and life at sea, by day and by night. The association charters the ship for day sails and multi-day voyages, turning every journey into a meaningful educational and personal experience.
