Le Français now has a home port online

A new online destination to discover the ship's history, follow her voyages, learn about her mission and step into the world of Le Français—a historic tall ship that continues to sail.

Built in 1948, Le Français is far more than a ship to admire from the quayside. She is a living maritime heritage, a place of learning and transmission, and a vessel that continues to welcome visitors, crews, young people and sea enthusiasts on board.

Through this website, we want to share what makes Le Français so unique: her history, her voyages, her partnership with Grand Voilier École, as well as the traditional seamanship, craftsmanship and encounters that bring the ship to life every day.

The website also provides information about the ship’s upcoming ports of call, public events, dockside visits and the highlights of each sailing season.

It is also designed to showcase the missions carried out around Le Français: sharing maritime culture, preserving a sailing heritage and introducing as many people as possible to life aboard a traditional tall ship.

A living heritage that continues to sail

Preserving Le Français means much more than maintaining her hull, masts and sails.

It means ensuring that a ship rich in history can continue to sail, welcome visitors, pass on knowledge and bring people together.

On board, every manoeuvre, every rope and every detail of the deck tells part of a rich maritime tradition—a tradition that is not confined to the past but continues to be shared, both at sea and alongside the quay.

Welcome aboard

Whether you want to discover her history, follow her next ports of call, learn more about her mission, step into her world or help secure her future, you’ll find everything you need here to get to know Le Français.
