Le Français is usually seen under sail or moored during a port call. This film offers a different view of the ship, alongside the professionals who work in ship repair.
The three-masted sailing ship helps demonstrate how Concarneau’s ship lift operates. This equipment lifts vessels out of the water and allows them to be moved onto a shoreside working area, where teams can access the hull.
Each operation is planned around the vessel’s particular characteristics. For Le Français, the shape of the keel and the arrangement of the supports beneath the hull require careful attention. The film highlights this work and the coordination between teams throughout the operation.
Produced at the initiative of the Port of Concarneau – Shipbuilding and Repair, the film also introduces the professionals who look after vessels during their time ashore.
Thank you to the port teams for involving us in this film.
