As part of the 400th anniversary celebrations of the French Navy in Brest, Le Français called at the city and welcomed visitors on board on 11 and 12 July, while moored at Commandant Malbert Quay.
Built in 1948, Le Français is a historic three-masted barque that continues to sail, welcome visitors and promote a living maritime heritage.
Stepping aboard offered visitors the opportunity to discover not only a ship steeped in history, but also a place where maritime traditions are passed on. From traditional seamanship and life at sea to the skills required to operate and preserve a historic sailing vessel, every visit highlighted the knowledge and craftsmanship that keep Le Français sailing today.
The guided tours were organised in partnership with Grand Voilier École.
Moored alongside Commandant Malbert Quay, Le Français opened her decks to the public, offering guided 45-minute tours of the cargo hold, living quarters and navigation areas—all without leaving the dock.
Visitors had the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a traditional tall ship and discover the story of one of France’s most remarkable sailing vessels.
